Repetition is everything: branding email

In radio, they say repetition is everything. The more a name’s repeated, the more likely it will be remembered. Here’s a quick way to make your small business more memorable:

You’ve got a website? Good: yourcompany.com, right? Your email should then be YourName@yourcompany.com. Believe it or not, there are still a surprising number of small businesses that haven’t gotten this done. Why? Most likely, it’s because someone either didn’t have the time, or didn’t know how to set it up. Or maybe they weren’t sure how to configure their PCs to receive mail from the new address. Could also be that it’s because they’ve gotten “married” to the old address, and are worried their contacts won’t be able to reach them. These businesses are missing a good opportunity to better represent their company with every email they send, repeating their brand name every time. Need to get this done? Discuss with your webmaster. A couple of ways include setting up email clients, such as MS Outlooks, to receive mail from both the old and new accounts during the “cutover,” or email can be forwarded the old to the new.

It may seem trivial, but brand repetition through email is a simple way to help make your brand memorable. Think of it as another step towards repeat business!

At first I thought this was about email marketing, something our news service has been careful about, but that may be an idea for you on another story.

Another benefit to using your own company email is your company can be found. We sell a product (that is not allowed without difficulty in our town) all across the country. After the sale, ecommerce of course, we look up the url in the email if it is a company email.

If they have a website or social networking, we promote them in our social network and on our website.

Free advertising, all they had to do was use a email with a company name in it.
